Top pick: #2 (SECRET MEMO) - Very speedy filly cuts back in distance after running rank on the lead, and tiring badly facing special weights at Del Mar going a mile on Sept. 2. Trainer Pete Miller will drop her into a claimer and race her on real dirt, both for the first time. The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #13 (She's a Go Girl) - She scratches in off the also-eligible list and will run off a five week freshening and with blinkers on, both for the first time. Daughter of "Silver Train" has raced evenly in her first two appearances and should be competitive in this spot.
3rd pick: #4 (Miss Sweet Afleet) - Well bet in her debut, she raced evenly in that Sept. 1 contest at Del Mar and was a 1/2 length better than "She's a Go Girl" at the finish. Daughter of "Afleet Alex" has worked three times since and will drop and go "poly" to dirt.
4th pick: #7 (Shand) - Away "slowly" in her debut, she raced evenly once in stride in a race best viewed as a "toss". Working fast since, trainer Pete Eurton drops her into a claimer and has his "go to" rider Raf Bejarano aboard for this attempt.
