The solid effort came off almost a 4.5-month layoff, and he had to be sent hard from an outside post. Working fast locally, I like his chances.
2nd pick: #2 (Midcourt) (2-1) - Speedy sort has been idle since finishing 3rd here at this 10-furlong distance in the Santa Anita Handicap (G1) March 7. He loves it here (7-3-1-2), is the main speed nearest the rail, and he should be in this from gate-to-wire.
3rd pick: #3 (Higher Power) (5-2) - He was an easy winner at Del Mar at this distance in the Pacific Classic (G1) Aug. 17, but has not been as sharp in three starts since. Stalker is working steadily, retains Flavien Prat, and must be left in the mix.
