2nd pick: #5 (Van Cortland) (12-1) - Longshot has been freshened up since Oct. 30. He raced evenly here at this distance that afternoon after having some early traffic issues. $225K purchase is training above average, and I think he'll be competitive at a very big price.
3rd pick: #12 (Glacier) (7-2) - Son of 'Broken Vow' just missed at this level and distance Dec. 4 at Del Mar. This colt cost $1,200,000 and was making his second start that day, and first following a private trainer change to Bob Baffert. A major force if able to avoid a wide trip from his outside post.
4th pick: #1 (Pavelski) (15-1) - Another longshot, he's stretching out in distance, and goes dirt to turf in his second attempt. He raced wide and evenly when debuting here going seven furlongs on the main track Dec. 26. Bred for the grass, he draws a ground saving post.
