Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #5 (WILL DANCER) (9-2) - He's switching back to the dirt while dropping back down and shortening up in distance. The 3yo was very rank and 'hard to handle' going a mile on the grass for a $75K tag May 10. $300K purchase had finished second on the dirt at Aqueduct in his previous start and looks well set up by trainer Ed Truman.
2nd pick: #3 (Outlaw) (2-1) - He was a winner here going a mile for a $25K tag April 20 but was disqualified and placed second. $450K gelded son of 'Violence' moves back up in price while shortening up to 6 furlongs. The 4yo enters off a bullet half-mile work May 27 and is a win candidate.
3rd pick: #7 (Vermeer) (7-2) - The 3yo pressed the pace while wide before tiring to finish a distant third here going 6 furlongs for a $50K tag May 5. It was his first start in four months, first on the West Coast, and first for trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. $100K purchase by 'Malibu Moon' must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #1 (Midnight Bandit) (5-1) - A very lightly raced 5yo, he was competitive without threatening in his first pair facing $50K state bred claimers. Unraced since Jan 6, he has the rail and believe a minor award is his ceiling.
