Racing second off a 7-month layoff, he rallied to finish second of 11, beaten just over 3-lengths at this level going 6-furlongs. He's worked twice since and draws a fine outside post at this 6.5-furlong trip.
2nd pick: #6 (Nardo) (7-2) - He's the only other member of this group that has started. Colt finished second when debuting here last May and did not run again until March 13th. Away slowly that afternoon, he rallied to finish fourth in a contest with a very promising winner. Working fast at Los Alamitos and a win candidate.
3rd pick: #4 (Contemplate) (4-1) - One of five that are debuting, colt has been in very steady training here since mid-February. The best of that dozen was a sharp 5-furlong gate breeze April 16th. Trainer Don Warren wins at a 28% rate first out.
4th pick: #5 (Matriculate) (2-1) - Colt by 'California Chrome's' sire 'Lucky Pulpit' has some blazing works on view. Veteran Bill Spawr does not deal with many maidens and is 0-for-8 first out over the past 16 months. However, there are exceptions to every rule.
