2nd pick: #8 (Meritocracy) (7-2) - Freshened up since Jan. 18, she's finished close up in all three starts. Home bred ran 2nd at this level and distance Dec. 29, and trainer Bob Hess, Jr. has breezed her here four times this month for her return from a 2.5-month layoff.
3rd pick: #2 (And Counting) (5-1) - A 4yo by the speedy 'Acclamation,' she hasn't raced since June 8. She's shown good early speed in all three starts, all on the grass facing tougher. She's dropping into a claimer for the first time, switches to the dirt, and is shortening up in distance.
4th pick: #11 (Out of Control) (12-1) - Longshot has broken poorly in both starts, but recovered in each to be be a factor before tiring. She faced tough fields in that pair and I think she's a threat with a better beginning.
