Irish import just missed ( a neck) at this level going 9 furlongs here Oct. 20, then had a wide and troubled trip after breaking from an outside post at Del Mar. Working steadily, he has the rail and has a good shot at a big price.
2nd pick: #9 (Combat Zone) (5-2) - Strong finisher has finished second in two straight at this level going 9 furlongs. $450,000 son of 'War Front' will need to save some ground at some point and is an obvious win candidate down the stretch.
3rd pick: #7 (Gosilently) (4-1) - He ships from New York where he's been competitive in five straight. He has the best early speed of this group and that makes him very dangerous if he brings his NYRA form with him.
4th pick: #4 (Taniko) (6-1) - Another stretch runner, he moves back up in class after missing by a 'head' going 9 furlongs at Del Mar for a $62,500 tag Nov. 16. Improving sort has finished behind 'Combat Zone' both times they've met so he needs to do a bit better in this spot.
