Top pick: #8 (Randomized) (6-1) - This 3-year old filly has won three races in a row from 1 to 1 1/4 miles, all on dirt. She's a front-runner with dazzling speed figures, including the two fastest Ragozin speed numbers by any 3-year-old filly on dirt. Randomized won the Grade 1 Alabama Stakes by four lengths going wire-to-wire under Joel Rosario, who will be riding here.
2nd pick: #4 (Idiomatic) (5-2) - Idiomatic also has terrific speed and endurance numbers winning four straight starts, though only two of those were Grade 1. She also had a poor start three races ago in the Grade 2 Delaware Handicap.
3rd pick: #5 (Adare Manor) (4-1) - This big, long-striding filly has been a beast in 2023, winning five races along with one second-place allowance. Adare Manor won her only Grade 1 stakes race this year in the Clement L. Hirsch, staying close to the leader before tightening up around the second turn and taking the lead near the sixteenth pole. The competition is tougher for this one and Adare Manor finished first and second in her only other races at this distance, neither being Grade 1.
4th pick: #9 (Clairiere) (4-1) - Is age catching up to Clairiere? This 5-year-old won two races in the first half of 2023 but has finished second and fifth since, both on dirt at Saratoga. Her speed figure dropped significantly the last time out, finishing fifth at the Grade 1 Personal Empire Stakes. At the 2022 Breeders' Cup Distaff, Clairiere rallied from eighth to finish third.
