He was bet down to 6-5 favoritism when debuting here going 6.5 furlongs Oct 27 but had a wide trip while finishing 4th of 10, beaten 6 lengths. Trainer Steve Asmussen (17% second time out) stretches him out in distance (18%), and I like his chances.
2nd pick: #5 (Swingin Sam) (7-2) - Improving colt set a pressured pace and held well until the final stages when he tired to finish third here at this level and distance. By far a career best, he's brought back in 15 days and is a major player.
3rd pick: #9 (Dauntless Prince) (2-1) - Home bred finished second here at this level and distance and was just under 2 lengths ahead of 'Swingin Sam' that evening. It earned him a big figure and he's a threat if able to avoid a wide trip.
4th pick: #3 (Mystic Link) (8-1) - Gelding set the pace and held gamely under pressure to finish second of 12, beaten just over a length racing her on the turf Oct. 17. He's worked twice since and must be left in the mix.
