2nd pick: #7 (Gentleman Len) (7-2) - One of two entered by trainer Karl Broberg, and the pair race uncoupled. Veteran gelding was beaten 2.5 lengths here at this tag going six furlongs Aug. 11. It was his first back off a Broberg re-claim, and he had a lot of success with this 5yo in the past.
3rd pick: #5 (Badtothebonelake) (8-1) - The second of the Broberg pair, this old timer has finished 1st or 2nd in 22 of 47 starts on the dirt. He's slipped down a bit over the past year, but was an easy winner at this distance for a $4,000 claiming price Aug. 10 at Evangeline Downs. 7yo finished a distant 3rd here at this level Sept. 7 and is brought back in six days for this attempt. Can grab a share if he doesn't scratch on the quick turnaround.
4th pick: #1 (John Gordon) (6-1) - Speedy veteran ships in from Arapahoe Park in Colorado where he won once in five starts during the late spring/summer. He has the rail and has run well here in the past in six of 10 starts without winning.
5th pick: #2 (Hall of Fame) (6-1) - Gelding drops way down in his second back from almost an eight-week break. 6yo raced both wide and evenly here Aug. 30 facing first-level allowance foes. And he drops to a $5,000 tag here, a price he's been competitive at in all five previous starts at.
