Top pick: #1 (DEPUTY MAX) (7-2) - The main speed, gelding by "Malibu Moon" has gone 6-0-2-3 since returning from a 15 1/2 month layoff in late May. He has the rail, is back in shape, and is the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #6 (Finding Candy) (3-1) - Colt ships in from Minnesota where he went 6-1-0-2 at Canterbury Park facing better. Drops down today, moves from turf to dirt, and shortens up a bit in distance.
3rd pick: #7 (First Son) (4-1) - Lightly-raced La.-bred tired badly here facing tougher, going longer on the grass on Sept. 12. Race was his first since March 30th and he runs at a new low and with blinkers on.
4th pick: #2 (Alimony Cobra) (6-1) - He's been competitive in two straight here on the grass at this level and moves back to the dirt and cuts back a furlong. Can factor, but needs to do a bit better.
