Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #7 (LAWLESS WEST) (3-1) - Very expensive ($300,000) son of 'Giant's Causeway' began his career in the fine barn of Wayne Catalano. This colt finished first Jan 17 at Oaklawn facing a much tougher field, but was disqualified and placed second. He ran evenly there in a trio of follow up starts and hasn't raced since April 11. Training fine locally and 3-year-old can beat these if ready.
2nd pick: #6 (Peonari) (6) - Speed/stalker had to be sent hard from an inside post last out. He held gamely to miss by a 'head' after setting a pressured pace from the get-go. He earned a career best figure and the move out in the gate is a plus. Win candidate.
3rd pick: #1 (Alexis Rules) (10-1) - Lightly-raced 4-year-old rallied to just miss racing here at this level on the grass Oct 8. By far a career best, trainer Bret Calhoun moves him to the dirt and has him racing third back from almost a 15 month layoff.
4th pick: #4 (Telequest) (15-1) - Long shot has fine early speed and moves back up in class for this attempt. He'll need a career best to handle the top pair.
