Top pick: #6 (GENUINE FLARE) (7-2) - Son of "Tiznow" has been competitive in all three grass starts and will be racing on a synthetic surface for the first time. Speed/stalker had an extremely quick work here on May 5, presumably with the blinkers that he wears this afternoon. The horse to beat.
nd pick: #4 (Winter's Gift) (3-1) - Gelding has been freshened up since a close up third place finish on the Gulfstream turf March 21. Trainer Wesley Ward ships him in from Keeneland where he's had a half-dozen published works since early April, and 3yo by "Ghostzapper" is a win candidate.
rd pick: #7 (Cosmic Karma) (9-2) - Home-bred is racing back into shape after coming off a four month break on Feb. 17th. No speed type rallied from far back to finish second here in back-to-back starts last fall and would love a fast and/or contested pace to develop.
th pick: #8 (Whatdoistandfor) (6-1) - Grey gelding by "Holy Bull" finished a distant second when debuting on the Penn National grass facing weaker last Sept. 3yo has been working steadily, is in a good barn (Mike Trombetta), will be moving up in class, and is going turf to "poly."
th pick: #1 (Life Said) (4-1) - Augustin home-bred had a tough post (12th of 12) when debuting at Pimlico going two-turns April 13. Colt had a wide trip, improved his position late, and had a bullet five-furlong breeze at Fair Hill on May 9. He moves to the rail and must be left in the mix.
