Leatherbury Stakes the last time out. The previous race, Grateful Bred won the Maryland Million Turf Sprint, getting a great jump and never looking back while running away from 10 others by 1.5 lengths. That's five first-place finishes in 12 starts.
2nd pick: #3 (Seven Scents) (4-1) - The fastest sprinters race in five-furlong sprints, and Seven Scents has several advantages to be in the running. This horse has won two of its last four, including winning at Keeneland the last time out at 5.5 furlongs in an Allowance. Seven Scents has run five straight on turf, including taking the Pulse Power Turf Sprint in January at five furlongs on the Connally Turf Course. Drawing a No. 3 post is another plus here.
3rd pick: #2 (Carotari) (9-5) - Over its last nine races, Carotari has three wins, two second-place finishes, and one third. Carotari comes off of a five-furlong win at the Janus Stakes with excellent speed and quickness while cruising to a front-running 1-length victory. It had to overtake 45-to-1 long shot Breakthrough after a quarter-mile to win the race. Getting the No. 2 pole position is a nice break, though Carotari has never won back-to-back races, finishing sixth, second, third, and fifth over its previous four times out.
