Bet this race at Top pick: #7 (Riot House) (4-1) - This three-year-old gelding appears primed for a strong showing at this distance and turf. Riot House has won two straight, taking first in a one-mile Allowance Optional Claiming race on a firm turf last month. Jockey Luis Saez will be at the reins, riding Maximum Security to a win in the 2019 Kentucky Derby along with taking the world's richest race in 2020, the $20,000,000 Saudi Cup.
2nd pick: #10 (Joe) (3-1) - Joe has been tested at different tracks and lengths, but he has been first four times and second once over the last five races. He's off of a win at the 1 1/8-mile Federico Tesio as the 7-5 favorite. Joe broke alertly, moved into a pressing position in second-place entering the backstretch, then edged away from Secret Alliance heading for home. Of six all-time races, this is only the second time Joe will be on turf and the first this year.
3rd pick: #2 (Local Motive) (8-1) - In five of the last six races, this horse has finished first twice and third three other times. The last time out, the track was longer at the 1 1/6-mile Private Terms Stakes, and Local Motive finished third. The previous race was at this same one-mile distance, and Local Motive won the Miracle Wood Stakes by 2.5 lengths, its third stakes win in nine starts. The horse has had some issues on dirt at times, but this will be turf, and he had no trouble winning on turf at the Hickory Tree Stakes.
