Top pick: #5 (EMPANGENI) (9-5) - Lightly-raced 6-year-old mare finished second here facing tougher on Sept. 12 in a contest that was switched to the main track. Only her second back from an eight month break and this speed/stalker likes this surface (4-3-1-0). The horse to beat.
2nd pick: #4 (D'wild Angel) (6-1) - The main speed of the race, she's a bit on the cheap side, but did hold to finish a distant second here at this level and distance on Sept. 14. She'll take them as far as she can.
3rd pick: #7 (Alley Sprout) (5-1) - No-speed type has raced evenly in her last pair and could get a share of this with a bit of improvement.
4th pick: #2 (Romanova) (2-1) - Most all of her success has come at Tampa Bay Downs, but she runs off a positive trainer change to Hal Brown Jr. and off a five month layoff. Dangerous if ready, and she meets a weak field in her return.
