Top pick: #3 (KOVARRO) (7-2) - Gulfstream shipper is dropping in class and switching from turf to dirt. Mid-pack type has been having wide trips in his grass sprints and has been competitive in several. The last time he raced on the dirt he checked in fifth of eight facing Florida-bred Special Weights in late November at Gulfstream Park West (the former Calder track).
2nd pick: #5 (Warren's Sonny Boy) (2-1) - The morning line favorite, he makes his first start outside his home state of California. Un-raced since March 12th, he has a new trainer (Bob Mosco 24% with new arrivals) and is dropping down into a career soft spot. Strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #4 (Ziquiz) (10-1) - Blinkers go on gelding that is cutting back in distance. No-speed type hasn't shown much so far, but once past the top two selections this field is very weak. May grab a share with a stretch rally.
4th pick: #2 (West Terrace) (3-1) - Un-raced since Feb. 7, he tired badly that day facing tougher going a mile. He had won his previous start, going 7-furlongs, but was disqualified and placed second. Fits with these with his "A" game.
