Top pick: #6 (WHIRLING DERVISH) (7-2) - Gelding has some serious issues as his running line is highlighted by several layoffs. However, he's been competitive in five straight starts and is racing today off a year's layoff. Stalker has the best overall form and figures, and can take this if ready.
2nd pick: #1 (Molten Steel) (5-2) - Veteran maiden had some promise at one time and has been competitive in both starts since returning from a 21-month layoff June 22. Speedy has the rail and is a strong win candidate if 'Dervish' isn't sharp off the lengthy absence.
3rd pick: #10 (Amblin Man) (6-1) - Speedy and lightly-raced, he tired badly here July 26 after being sent hard from his inside post. Gelding had finished second in his previous pair and must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #2 (Goldland) (8-1) - Colt ships in from Delaware and is taking a big drop in class and moving in with fellow state-breds. Those two changes are significant and he should factor in this spot at a square price.
