Top pick: #3 (FORGE AHEAD FRANKI) (5-2) - Colt looked great when going wire-to-wire in a $30K claimer at this 6-furlong distance May 30 at Monmouth Park. By far a career best, it came off a 7 1/2 month layoff and a trainer change to Wayne Catalano. Working fast since, and he's the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #5 (Derby Gold) (7-2) - Veteran has six career wins, and five of those are local. 6yo missed by a 'neck' at this level and distance June 20 and has gone 8-3-2-2 since returning from a 7-week break in late November. He has a big experience edge on 'Forge Ahead Franki" and is a strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #7 (Foreign Potential) (4-1) - Lightly raced colt finished 2nd here at this level and distance June 15. It was a career best and came off a long layoff (11 months). Stalker draws outside of the main speed, and that's to his advantage.
4th pick: #8 (So Clutch) (3-1) - He looked sharp when breaking his maiden here May 16. Only his second start, and this $250K son of 'Mineshaft' has plenty of room for upside. Factors today.
