Top pick: #7 (OLD MOUNTAIN LANE) (5-2) - The probable favorite, Pletcher trained colt ships up from Gulfstream Park where he's finished second in two straight. The latest came at this distance on Jan. 17th. $520K 2yo in training purchase looks like a promising one and is the horse to beat.
nd pick: #6 (Mr. Discreet) (6-1) - He was formerly in the Pletcher barn and finished second here as a heavy favorite going 6-furlongs Jan. 17th. Claimed that afternoon by Bob Reid, Jr. for $25K, he moves him up in class and stretches him out in distance. Has a shot at a square price.
rd pick: #4 (Maxwell's Hammer) (5-1) - 'Maxwell' has finished second in three straight, the latest coming here at this level going a mile on Dec. 23rd. That was his first off a Ramon Preciado claim and a career best. Working fast for this, and he must be considered a serious threat.
th pick: #2 (Oshie) (8-1) - Another that was formerly with Todd Pletcher, gelding tired badly after setting a very fast pace going a mile at Aqueduct in early Nov. He's now with Cal Lynch (24% with new arrivals), and he returns as a new gelding while working fast.
th pick: #1 (Jet Streak) (5-1) - Stretch runner ships from Penn National where he rallied to finish second there going a mile on Jan. 24th. Grey son of 'Tapit" has a ground saving post and would love a fast and/or contested pace to develop.
