Top pick: #7 (MUZZLED MOUSSE) (5-2) - The likely favorite, speedy gelding was an easy 'winner' here May 25, but was disqualified and placed fourth. He's finished second in a pair of subsequent starts here at this level. Much the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #1 (Smart and Sensible) (7-2) - Another with early speed, well bred 4-year-old has finished 5-lengths behind 'Muzzled Mousse' in his last pair. $230K gelding by 'Street Sense' moves out in the gate and that may lead to a much more competitive run.
3rd pick: #3 (Broad Axe Bernie) (5-1) - Gelding rallied strongly following a slow start when debuting here at this level and distance July 18. He was almost 6-lengths in back of 'Muzzled Mousse' but was only a bit more than a length behind 'Smart and Sensible.' Can factor, but an alert break is a must.
4th pick: #9 (Tender May) (12-1) - He's racing second back from an 11-month layoff and racing on the turf for the first time. Working well, he showed good early speed in his return on the dirt July 14. Colt may grab a share at a big price.
5th pick: #4 (My Partner) (10-1) - No-speed type has raced evenly in both starts since coming off a 6-month layoff June 22. In each of those outings he was behind 'Muzzled,' so believe a minor award is his ceiling.
