Top pick: #5 (SURFSIDE CHIC) (3-1) - She was bet down to favoritism when debuting here on a "muddy" surface facing special weights March 29. Daughter of "Wildcat Heir" raced evenly that day and has worked well since. Trainer Phil Aristone drops her into a claimer, and she's the horse to beat.
2nd pick: #2 (Chubby Charlie) (8-5) - The probable favorite, Jersey-bred has shown early speed in all three starts, and last out chased a runaway winner in the mud before weakening to finish fourth. Dangerous foe.
3rd pick: #6 (It's My Town) (5-1) - One of three making their debuts, filly has some sharp works on view and is in a capable barn (Bill Hedus). Very much in this if she runs to her a.m. drills.
4th pick: #3 (Valid Melody) (10-1) - Grey filly raced evenly last out in the same race as "Chubby," and did so after a troubled break. Race was her first in seven months, and she's worked fine since.
