Top pick: #6 (ARTISTIC DRIFTER) (9-2) - $100,000 son of 'Northern Afleet' finished 2nd here at this level when debuting May 16 in a 6-furlong dirt sprint. He's worked fast since, has Lasix added, and trainer Marya Montoya switches him to the turf. Bred for the surface, he gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #7 (Muzzled Mousse) (3-1) - He moves up in class after an easy 'win' here at this distance on the grass May 25. He was disqualified that afternoon after 'bearing out' on the turn. A career best overall, it came off a 2-month freshening, and was his first ever on the grass. Win candidate.
3rd pick: #1 (Smart and Sensible) (2-1) - Speedy and well bred, $230K gelding by 'Street Cry' tired when racing here at this level in an 'off the turf' contest June 1. It was his first start in 8-months, and he probably needed the race. 4yo ran 2nd here last Sept. at this level and distance in his only previous grass attempt. Must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #4 (Judi's Joy) (10-1) - Freshened up for the past 2-months, he's moving up in class, shortening up a bit in distance, and racing on the grass for the first time. Believe a minor award at a big price is his ceiling.
