Top pick: #1 (Maximus Marcus) (9-1) - One of two entered by trainer Juan Vazquez and the pair race un-coupled. She did not break alertly last out and also had some traffic issues. Daughter of 'Afleet Alex' finished a distant third that day and can take this at a square price with a better getaway and trip.
2nd pick: #3 (Double Check) (5-2) - Even-paced type always has a good spot turning for home, but so far hasn't been able to 'finish the deal.' She's cutting back in distance off a third-place finish going a mile and that should help her late stamina issues out.
3rd pick: #8 (I'm Julie) (4-1) - Filly has good early speed and enters off a career best effort July 20. Racing here at this level going a bit farther, she set a solid pace and held well to finish third. Barn has an apprentice rider aboard today so filly races with 7lbs less. Win candidate.
4th pick: #4 (Allied Kid) (3-1) - The second of the Vazquez pair, filly is lightly raced and is making back-to-back starts for the first time. She rallied to finish second here at this tag last out and is a threat with a repeat of it.
