Top pick: #1 (RETIRED) (5-2) - New York shipper makes his first start since June 12th and does so for a new trainer (Donald White 16% with new arrivals). Gelding has gone 11-0-5-2 when racing on the dirt on the NYRA circuit and should be able to run down this weak crew down the stretch.
2nd pick: #4 (Bob Greco) (4-1) - Cal.-bred has disappointed in his first pair of local starts, but he was sent hard early in both of those before weakening. His west coast form suggests that he's better when taken off the pace, 5-year-old and can factor today if he reverts to that tactic this afternoon.
3rd pick: #6 (Gottcha My Dear) (9-2) - Speed/stalker has gone 5-0-2-3 since mid-May and all have come at this $10K tag. Fits, and should factor in this spot.
4th pick: #8 (Water Tower) (7-2) - Nicely-bred grey gelding drops to a new low in price and trainer Kieron Magee will add blinkers and switch him from turf to dirt. More than capable, especially if the pace is fast/and or contested.
