Grey colt used that approach when taking the rich Indiana Derby (G2) July 16, then came right back with an easy score in the West Virginia Derby (G2) at this distance Aug at Mountaineer Park. I like his chances.
2nd pick: #1 (Awesome Sew) (10-1) - Longshot was a very easy and visually sharp wire-to-wire winner here in the $150,000 Smarty Jones Stakes (G3) racing here at 8.5-furlongs Sept. 5. A career best he has the rail, excellent early speed, and has a solid shot at a big price.
3rd pick: #7 (Gun Runner) (6-1) - Colt finished a distant third Aug 27 in the $1,250,000 Travers Stakes (G1) Aug 27 at Saratoga. Nobody had a chance that afternoon against eventual 15 length winner 'Arrogate,' but this horse chased his pace and held under pressure for the show prize. Has a chance with his best.
4th pick: #4 (Connect) (12-1) - Lightly-raced colt ran poorly in the Travers Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Aug 27 but had a terrible start. He has talent and is from the barn of Chad Brown.
5th pick: #8 (My Man Sam) (20-1) - Also from trainer Chad Brown, he still has unlimited potential. Strong finisher, he still can have a good career an is a late threat.
