Top pick: #2 (SPEAK LOGISTICS) (8-1) - Price play comes off a career best when he missed by a neck when racing here in the "Smarty Jones" stakes (G3) on Sept. 2. I liked this runner last winter and trainer Ed Plesa Jr. appears to have him headed in the right direction following a pair of layoffs. Speed/stalker has the rail and can surprise this crew at a square price.
2nd pick: #3 (Moreno) (5-2) - Gelding has improved dramatically since blinkers went on and is 4-2-1-1 since then. He enters off a career best when he lost by a nose at Saratoga in the $1M "Travers" stakes (G1) on Aug. 24 and has worked fast since. Win candidate.
3rd pick: #1 (Transparent) (8-1) - Colt by "Bernardini" has always been highly thought of by trainer Kiaran McLaughlin and looked sharp when at Saratoga in the $100K "Curlin" stakes on July 26th. However, he followed that up with a poor effort in the "Travers" and will race with lasix for the first time, a 32% winning angle for McLaughlin.
4th pick: #6 (Fury Kapori) (8-1) - Lightly-raced and improving, he's be racing outside of his home-base of California for the first time. In his lone previous start on conventional dirt, son of "Tiznow" won a small stakes a year ago at the Fresno Fair meet. He enters off a career best at Del Mar on Aug. 30 and has "Hall of Fame" trainer Jerry Hollendorfer in his corner.
