Top pick: #6 (BOSS CAT) (2-1) - Lightly raced & well bred, he's been freshened up since Dec. 23rd when he missed by a 'nose' here at this distance for a $15K tag. Claimed that day by Ramon Preciado (27% off the claim), he has him working nicely and brings him back a bit below the purchase price.
2nd pick: #7 (Cotton Valley) (7-2) - He made his local debut a winning one Dec. 29th. In his first race in two months and first since arriving from Santa Anita, gelding was an easy maiden winner at this 7-furlong distance. Nicely spotted by trainer Lou Linder, Jr., and a win threat right back.
3rd pick: #3 (Rocket Hero) (9-2) - New York shipper is dropping a bit and shortening up in distance. He was in very poor form all of 2014 and will need to turn it around today for anything more than a minor award.
4th pick: #4 (John's Cross) (10-1) - He rallied past three rivals to get his maiden win here going 6.5-furlongs just eight days ago. Race was run in slow time, but the 'figure' earned was his best yet. He needs some pace help for any shot at the top spot.
