Back on a 16 day turnaround, he has the rail and will be tough on the front end.
2nd pick: #7 (Major Attraction) (3-1) - Believe he'll go favored today after finishing 2nd when debuting at this level and distance at the Fair Grounds March 20. Barn (Wayne Catalano) is having a strong meet and this colt is an obvious contender.
3rd pick: #9 (Lemon and Diem) (5-1) - Debuting colt sold for $475,000 as a yearling back in August of 2018. One of two 3yos entered, he's working steadily, and trainer Steve Asmussen has won with 43 of 273 (16%) first-time-starters since Jan 1 of 2019.
4th pick: #6 (Derby Date) (4-1) - Once promising sort hasn't shown much in two starts since coming off a long layoff (14 months) Jan 25. However, he's working extremely fast and has was competitive against tough groups than this before the long absence. Tough call.
