Top pick: #4 (KENTUCKIAN) (7-5) - Late developer did not race as a 2-year-old and made his debut March 7 at Golden Gate Fields going 6-furlongs on the synthetic surface there. He won easily as a heavy favorite and was immediately sent to Santa Anita by trainer Jerry Hollendorfer. Grey son of 'Tiznow" finished third in the San Pedro Stakes April 12, then was a very easy winner of the Laz Barrera Stakes (G3) May 10. Working fast since, he's trying a longer and two-turn distance for the first time. Gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #5 (Prospect Park) (9-5) - His entire career has been spent on real dirt and colt by 'Tapit' is 8-2-3-1 to this point. Stalker has run seven straight times around two-turns and has finished a close-up second twice in stakes. Working well and an obvious win candidate.
3rd pick: #2 (Gimme Da Lute) (5-2) - The main speed, he won the G3 Affirmed Stakes June 7 at Santa Anita. It was his first ever around two-turns and Pegram home bred was a 1/2 length better than 'Prospect Park.' Training fast since and he'll be in this from start-to-finish.
