Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #1 (DERBY GLASS) (3-1) - One of two entered by trainer Dou O'Neill gelding is moving back to the dirt after a wide and even effort at this level & distance on the Del mar grass Sep 4. Only beaten 4 1/2 lengths, he had a tough outside post and lost a ton of ground on both turns. Competitive in three straight on the dirt prior to that, he breaks from the rail with Bejarano aboard.
2nd pick: #2 (Gunslinger) (5-2) - The second of the O'Neill pair, he exits the same grass race as 'Derby Glass.' He rated, bid while wide, then tired slightly in the final furlong. It was his first off a claim and the barn moves him back to the dirt. A strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #6 (Always Never) (8-1) - Very lightly-raced, he hasn't run since late Nov. when he broke his maiden here going 6-furlongs on the old all weather surface. A NEW gelding, he's working fast and is a threat if ready.
4th pick: #3 (Fort Cady) (5-1) - He just missed two back at Del Mar facing weaker, then raced evenly from an outside post there in his latest. He's in shape, fits with his best, and has an experience edge on both 'Gunslinger' and 'Always Never.'
