Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #3 (BELLAZANO) (6-1) - She's dropping down after tiring while wide going 6 furlongs at Del Mar for a $40,000 claiming price July 31. It was her first race in three months and trainer Shelbe Ruiz drops this $140K purchase down to a new low ($20K). Filly has nibbled several times against tougher and 3yo should like the long stretch here.
2nd pick: #6 (Goddess Aphrodite) (9-2) - One of two entered by Peter Miller, this filly is taking a big drop, is switching from grass to dirt, and shortens up in distance. Off slowly before racing evenly last out on the Del Mar turf, think she's a factor today at a square price.
3rd pick: #1 (Colonel Power) (2-1) - A very lightly raced 5yo mare, she missed by a 'head' here at this tag going 5 furlongs Sept. 8. It was a solid effort in her first race since July 15 of 2018 and this daughter of 'Colonel John' is an obvious contender at a very short price.
4th pick: #8 (Sassy Kitty) (7-2) - The second of the Peter Miller trained fillies, she tired to finish third at Del Mar facing $50K state breds in her first race back off a 10.5 month layoff. Normal improvement off the long absence can see her involved every step.
