Top pick: #5 (BOBBY'S KITTEN) (7-2) - As is normal, this year's Bluegrass Stakes(G1) has drawn a large group of "puzzling" types. It has horses that are dirt and turf specialists along with several that are capable on "poly." "Bobby" has gone 5-3-2-0, all on the grass and won his seasonal debut in wire-to-wire fashion at Tampa Bay Downs on March 8th. Son of "Kitten's Joy" closed out his 2-year-old season with a very sharp third-place finish at Santa Anita in the "Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf" and had a fine local 5-furlong work on this surface April 5th. Can take this if he likes the new footing.
2nd pick: #8 (Dance With Fate) (12-1) - Longshot has talent, a flexible style, and has gone 4-1-2-0 racing on "poly" surfaces. He just missed last year in the (G1) "Del Mar Futurity" and last out at Golden Gate Fields he was out-finished by a 1/2 length by multiple stakes winner "Tamarando" in the "El Camino Real Derby"(G3).Very dangerous, and he'll be a big price.
3rd pick: #11 (Coastline) (8-1) - He showed a lot of promise last year as a 2-year-old and comes off a near miss at Turfway Park on March 22nd in the (G3) "Spiral" stakes. It was his best so far in 2014 and grey colt broke his maiden on this surface in early October. Still improving and must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #12 (Vinceremos) (8-1) - Son of "Pioneer of the Nile" has gone 4-2-2-0 to date and comes into this off a second-place finish in the "Tampa Bay Derby" (G2) on March 8th. Working well since, trainer Todd Pletcher will have him racing on a synthetic surface for the first time.
5th pick: #3 (Pablo Del Monte) (20-1) - Longshot is undefeated on this surface (2-for-2), but has been disappointing since beginning his 3-year-old season. Colt has been racing evenly on both dirt and turf and is moving back to a "poly" surface this afternoon. Working fast since returning to Keeneland and he may contend at a very big price.
