Top pick: #6 (FAME AND POWER) (5-2) - He's another 3-year-old from the loaded barn of Bob Baffert. Juddmonte home bred ships from Santa Anita where he was an impressive maiden winner March 8th going 7-furlongs. He had shown ability in a series of four starts as a 2-year-old, but really put it all together last out. Working very fast before heading here, son of 'First Defence' gets a slight edge.
2nd pick: #7 (Donworth) (3-1) - He was reported to be something special before making his debut at Gulfstream March 14th. Son of 'Tiznow' overcame a terrible trip to re-rally to win by a 'neck' going 7-furlongs. Trainer Graham Motion moves him way up in class and we'll find out a lot more about him in this spot.
3rd pick: #1 (Divining Rod) (7-2) - Son of 'Tapit' has been competitive in every start 4-1-1-2 and enters off a third-place finish in the Tampa Bay Derby (G2) March 7th. The winner that day, 'Carpe Diem' will be one of the favorites in Louisville on May 2nd. He's in shape, has early speed, and breaks from the rail.
4th pick: #4 (Tiznow R J ) (10-1) - He finished a strong third in a G3 stakes at the Fair Grounds Jan 17, but has regressed in his pair of follow up starts. Another by 'Tiznow,' he ships back from New Mexico where he chased and tired to finish a distant fourth in the G3 Sunland Park Derby. Can grab a share at long odds.
