Top pick: #5 (MR PROVIDENCE) (9-5) - Lightly-raced colt has been freshened up since June 4th when he had some serious traffic issues when beaten as the favorite. In the barn of the leading trainer at this meet (Tom Amoss), he has him working steadily at Churchill and will add blinkers (a strong 12-for-36 {33%})move by the barn.
2nd pick: #6 (Officer Griffin) (5-2) - Dangerous foe, he rallied to finish third in a turf sprint at this tag on Aug. 5 in his first off a Paul McGhee claim and a subsequent two month break. He has some trouble at the break in his latest and will be moving back to the dirt and stretching-out a furlong. Win candidate.
3rd pick: #3 (Key Point) (9-2) - Fla.-bred has fine early speed and last out tired after chasing a quick early pace in the same Aug. 5 grass sprint that "Griffin" exits. In the mix, but the top pair or more likely to win this.
4th pick: #2 (Goodnight Diva) (6-1) - Recent maiden winner did so here on July 30th in his first off a Jeff Barkley claim. Grey gelding has a nice closing kick and could grab a share if a fast/and or contested pace develops.
