Top pick: #6 (LUV IN SPEIGHT) (6-5) - The probable favorite, speedy daughter of "Speightstown" ships in from Ellis Park where she just failed to hold on after setting a solid pace racing at this level going 6 furlongs. Race was her first in 5 1/2 months and earned her the highest "figure" any that have started has run. Trainer Dave vance brings her back quickly for this and she'll be tough to beat.
2nd pick: #5 (Steffi) (3-1) - Home-bred by "Grand Slam' goes turf to dirt after an even and wide effort here at this level on July 13th. Capable, improving, and in a good barn (veteran Ron Werner).
3rd pick: #7 (Mingo Mingo) (6-1) - Interesting filly had some traffic issues when debuting here on July 16th. Trainer Steve Margolis almost never wins with a "firster," but improves dranatically (25%) second-time out.
