Top pick: #8 (CLEW BAY) - Trainer Frank Kirby dropped this colt into a claimer last out for the first time and also added both lasix and blinkers. Result was his best race to date as he missed by a "neck" at this price. Looks set for the win.
2nd pick: #4 (Boot Tails) - He's raced only once and that was on the Arlington strip near the end of their meet. Gelding went evenly in that one and has had the past three months off. Drops into a claimer and tries real dirt for trainer Joel Berndt who is excellent off of layoffs (29%).
3rd pick: #5 (McLard) - He showed good early speed last out going long and it came at this $25,000 claiming tag. Race was his first in blinkers and should set him up for a big effort as he cuts-back in distance.
