Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #7 (BOURBON IN MAY) (5-2) - One of two entered by Todd Pletcher, and the pair race uncoupled. This well bred 4yo has always hinted at ability and has gone 4-2-2-0 on the grass since coming off a 7.5-month layoff Aug. 17. He's won two in a row at Aqueduct facing weaker and has done it impressively. Working fast at the Palm Beach Downs Center, I give him a slight edge.
2nd pick: #3 (Largent) (3-1) - The second of the Pletcher trained pair, this NEW gelding has been very sharp in both starts, but hasn't raced since May 17. He was an easy winner debuting here March 10, then missed by a 'neck' at this level at Pimlico before the layoff. He completes a strong hand from the barn.
3rd pick: #5 (Mantra) (10-1) - This gelding had serious traffic issues when he missed by just under two lengths here Jan. 1 in his first since a 2nd place finish at this level Oct. 10. Stretch runner should grab a share with his normal effort.
4th pick: #8 (Kadar) (7-2) - A lightly raced 4yo by 'Scat Daddy,' he's dropping in class following four straight appearances in stakes events. No speed type will need a fast and/or contested pace for any shot at winning this.
