She won her first pair off the claim at this distance then missed by a length at this level and trip Jan. 2. It was her first race since Oct. 19 and she gets a rider upgrade to Jose Ortiz.
2nd pick: #12 (Play That Tone) (9-2) - She's racing third back following a 2.5 month layoff. Mare tired here Jan. 2 when finishing 6 lengths behind 'Hire the Lady', but has races last Summer/Fall that make her dangerous. It's noted that leading rider Irad Ortiz Jr gets aboard for the first time.
3rd pick: #2 (Nilestar) (6-1) - She was a sharp winner here at this distance at 24-1 racing just below this tag Jan. 8. By far a career-best, it came off a 2.5-month layoff while in her previous start she ran 2nd, 4 lengths in back of 'Hire the Lady'. Well-bred filly is capable of factoring with a repeat of her latest effort.
4th pick: #8 (Paula Andrea) (8-1) - Longshot has only raced once on the grass and it produced a solid effort and respectable figure facing tougher last July. Speed/stalker can impact at a square price.
