Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #4 (PREMIER STAR) (2-1) - He's one of two entered by trainer Jorge Navarro and the pair race uncoupled. Colt won his debut at this distance Dec. 8 and was bet down to 2-1 favoritism that afternoon. $100K purchase has breezed three times since and it's noted that the second-place finisher last out was an impressive maiden winner here this past Saturday.
2nd pick: #5 (Calibrator) (6-1) - The second of the Navarro trained pair, he won his debut sprinting on the grass Oct. 12, then was never involved in one-mile grass stakes Nov. 30. A son of 'Verrazano', he's working very fast and is on the dirt for the first time.
3rd pick: #6 (Peruvian Boy) (4-1) - The fields most experienced runner, he rallied to finish third of 6, beaten just under 5 lengths going 6 furlongs here in a $75K stakes Jan. 4. He draws well and has positive experience at this often tricky 7 furlong distance.
4th pick: #2 (Americanus) - On the sidelines since tiring badly in the Nashua Stakes (G3) going a mile at Aqu. Nov. 3, he had won his debut in smart fashion in his previous start Sep 28 at Belmont. A homebred by 'War Front', he's working steadily and has Castellano aboard.
