In the Pletcher barn, he wins at a 24% rate first out and he's had him in steady training at the Palm Beach Downs Center since Nov. 18. His long time 'go to' rider John Velazquez is aboard and this expensive purchase can win this if ready.
2nd pick: #7 (Bronxville) (4-1) - His first three starts have come facing 'open' company in New York. He's shown ability in two of those attempts, once in a dirt sprint and the other in a two-turn grass contest. Blinkers go on, he's back on the dirt, and is facing fellow Florida breds for the first time. Contends today.
3rd pick: #6 (Squeezadios) (9-2) - Colt rallied while very wide to finish 3rd of 11, beaten 6 lengths when debuting here at this level going 5.5 furlongs July 28. He was bet down to 7-2 in the large field and has been given ample time to grow and mature. He's worked four times here this month, has blinkers on, and must be left in the mix.
4th pick: #5 (Art G Is Back) (5-1) - Another making his debut, son of the solid 'Exchange Rate' sold for $90,000 this past April as a 2yo in training. Some his works are on the quick side and it's noted that trainer Ron Spatz has Irad Ortiz Jr aboard.
5th pick: #10 (Good Timing Man) (15-1) - Longshot raced both wide and evenly when debuting in a 5.5-furlong sprint Nov 10 at Gulfstream Park West. He received some betting support but had a very difficult post (11 of 11). He worked fast Dec. 13, has blinkers on, and he should run better at a big price.
