A $400,000 son of 'Quality Road,' he was bet heavily that day and returns off some serious looking drills at the Palm Beach Downs Center. In the Pletcher barn, he wins at a 25% rate second time out and at a 29% clip off of long layoffs. It's noted that this 3yo is the only one of 12 entered that was nominated to this year's Triple Crown events.
2nd pick: #1 (Mud Pie) (7-2) - He rallied to miss by just under a length here at this level and distance Feb. 22. Only his second start, it was his first since debuting Aug. 31 at Saratoga. A stretch threat.
3rd pick: #2 (Superfecto) (5-1) - One of six making their debuts, this home-bred by 'Constitution' has been in steady training here since Feb. 17. Colt has a half-dozen published works with five of those being above average for trainer Ralph Nicks, 16% first out in 2019-20.
4th pick: #3 (Rare Stripe) (10-1) - Another first-time-starter, Calumet home bred by 'Flatter' is in the barn of veteran Shug McGaughey, 15% with debuting stock. The presence of Joel Rosario is noted.
