She doesn't need the lead to win, and her outside post is a plus given her versatility.
2nd pick: #7 (Pocket of Candy) (4-1) - Speed-ball has won eight of 14 overall and is three for four sprinting on conventional dirt. A good looking winner here at this distance for a $6,250 tag Dec. 4, mare was claimed that day by Jane Cibelli, who is having a strong meet (23-5-2-3). A win candidate.
3rd pick: #4 (Best Trebol) (7-2) - A lightly raced 4yo that was bred in the Dominican Republic, she's cutting back in distance after tiring to check in 3rd here in a stakes on Caribbean Day here Dec. 8. A winner of five of nine overall, she runs of a private trainer change to Jorge Navarro, 20% with new arrivals over the past year. She worked fast from the gate Dec. 27 and must be left in the mix today.
4th pick: #5 (Shall Return) (6-1) - State bred runs third back following a 3.5-month layoff and is dropping to a new low in price. One run type should receive a fast and/or contested pace to close into and may grab a share with a late rally.
