Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #10 (SOLID) (5-2) - Freshened up since Dec. 8 he finished second here at this level going 7.5 furlongs. Son of 'Smart Strike' had been competitive in three starts on the NYRA circuit in 6 furlong grass sprints prior to that and has some fine works on view for his first race in two months.
2nd pick: #1 (Toothpick) (10-1) - Longshot switches back to the turf after finishing a distant second going 5.5 furlongs on the local dirt Dec. 23. He had been much sharper in his previous pair, is working fast, and has the rail. Think he can factor at a big price.
3rd pick: #5 (All Systems Go) (2-1) - Son of 'Derby' winner 'Orb' sold for $450,000 as a Keeneland Sales Yearling back in Sep of 2016. He's been in steady training at the Palm Beach Downs Center and is in the barn of Todd Pletcher (27% first out). It's noted that the leading jockey at this meet (Luis Saez) is aboard.
4th pick: #6 (Giant Dilemma) (3-1) - Gelding has finished second and third in a pair of grass sprints at this level. Latest came here Jan 19 when he ran evenly to check in third of nine, beaten 3.5 lengths. Must be left in the mix.
