Competitive in her previous pair at that same level, she's dropping into a claimer and enters off a well above average half-mile gate breeze Feb. 28. She's spotted to win and I like her chances.
2nd pick: #5 (Princess Avril) (9-2) - One of three making their debuts, she's from a good barn Vic Barboza Jr and he's capable first out 14% in 2019-20. This daughter of 'Fast Anna' had a bullet 3-furlong work from the gate in 35.60 Jan. 31 and is in the mix.
3rd pick: #4 (Proprioception) (4-1) - Another of the first-time-starters, she's been in steady training at the Palm Meadows Center since late January and is from the barn of veteran Stanley Hough. He has Luis Saez aboard and they've won at a 26% rate when teamed up since Jan. 1 of 2019.
4th pick: #3 (Irish Thunder) (3-1) - By far the fields most experienced maiden, she's been competitive in five of her eight starts on the dirt and has finished third in two straight here at today's $25,000 claiming price. If the debuting fillies lack ability she's a win candidate.
