It was his first race since Sept. 6 when he came up a 'neck' short here at today's $25K tag. He gets a slight edge here.
2nd pick: #2 (Big Treasure) (7-2) - He made a strong middle move to reach the front before tiring late to finish 3rd here at this tag and trip Nov. 29. Very much improved in his last pair, they came after trainer Jose Pinchin added blinkers. Home bred draws a fine post, has Irad Ortiz, Jr. aboard, and is a strong win candidate.
3rd pick: #12 (Brian's Avenue) (5-1) - On the sidelines since July 27, this colt tired that afternoon sprinting here on the dirt facing tougher. Trainer Saffie Joseph, Jr., 25% second time out, switches him to the turf while dropping him in class and stretches him out in distance.
4th pick: #9 (Fayez) (12-1) - Longshot has some early speed, and the nibbler moves off the rail here. He was eight lengths behind 'Big Treasure' last out, and I believe a minor award at a big price is his ceiling.
