Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #4 (BUNYAN'S AXE) (5-2) - He's been competitive in all five starts since coming off a 3.5-month layoff Nov. 23. This 4yo finished 2nd at this tag and trip March 9, draws a better post here, and Luis Saez stays aboard. I give this New York bred a slight edge.
2nd pick: #3 (Am Prepared) (3-1) - A lightly raced 3yo, he never fired here going nine furlongs for a $35K tag just one week ago. He just missed at this $20K tag Feb. 24 and a repeat of that effort makes him a serious win candidate.
3rd pick: #5 (Codeseventyseven) (9-2) - Speedy 4yo set a pressured pace and held gamely to miss by a 'nose' at this $20K claiming price going a mile March 17. It was his first on the grass, was a career best, and he's an obvious threat today.
4th pick: #8 (Bad Boy E.J.) (6-1) - He's from the same barn (Fernando Abreu) as 'Am Prepared,' and the pair race uncoupled. This 4yo had serious traffic issues last out (March 7), and it's noted that he was only 1.5 lengths in back of 'Bunyan's Axe' Jan. 20. His outside post today is a negative, and he'll need some pace help for anything more than a minor award.
