Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #3 (BREAKING LUCKY) (3-1) - The talented old-timer was an impressive winner here at this distance facing weaker Dec 7. 7yo completed the mile in a swift 1:36.40 while winning by just over 8 lengths. In his follow up Jan 26, he did not have the best of trips when finishing 2nd at the same trip in a G3 contest. Think he can win this from 'off the pace'.
2nd pick: #7 (Copper Town) (9-2) - He's one of two entered by trainer Todd Pletcher and the pair race uncoupled. This very lightly raced 5yo enters off a pair of sub-par efforts, the latest here Jan 26 when he tired after being very nervous in the gate before the break. He has a speed/stalking style, a good post, and is a serious threat if on his best behavior.
3rd pick: #5 (Quip) (2-1) - The morning line and probable favorite, stakes winner hasn't seen action since tiring badly on a sloppy surface in the 2018 Preakness Stakes (G1) May 19. He's training steadily on the deep surface at Payson Park and is an obvious win candidate if ready.
4th pick: #9 (Prince Lucky) (6-1) - The 2nd of the Pletcher trained pair, he hasn't raced since winning the $150,000 Easy Goer Stakes going 8.5 furlongs at Belmont Park June 9. He has a fine series of works showing and Pletcher wins at a 33% rate off of long layoffs.
