Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #5 (SPICE IS NICE) (3-1) - One of several lightly raced fillies, she won her debut here going a mile by 12 lengths in fast time (1:36 flat) Jan. 12. In the barn of Todd Pletcher, he sent this $1,050,000 daughter of 'Curlin' right into the seven-furlong G2 Davona Dale Stakes Feb. 29. Favored at 3-5, she tried hard but had to settle for the place spot to today's rival 'Tonalist's Shape.' She should love this nine-furlong trip, and I give her a very small edge.
2nd pick: #9 (Tonalist's Shape) (2-1) - She enters undefeated, with all five victories done in impressive fashion. Filly has won from both on and off the pace, and last out she scored by a bit more than a length over today's rival 'Spice is Nice.' Four of her wins have come at Gulfstream and this home-bred is an obvious win candidate.
3rd pick: #4 (Lake Avenue) (9-2) - Godolphin home-bred ships from Aqueduct where she tired badly as the heavy favorite in the one-mile Busher Invitational March 7. Daughter of 'Tapit' had won the G2 Demoiselle Stakes there by four lengths going nine furlongs Dec. 7 and earned a nice figure in that victory. In the mix.
4th pick: #7 (Lucrezia) (6-1) - Interesting shipper from Tampa Bay Downs was a five-length winner there of the $100K Suncoast Stakes going two-turns Feb. 8. Home-bred by 'Into Mischief' is working fast for this attempt and could do some serious running if she brings her form with her.
