Bet this race at Diamond SportsTop pick: #3 (I'LL FIGHT DEMPSEY) (2-1) - A $300,000 son of 'Into Mischief' did not race last year, but made quite a splash debuting here Feb. 29. Bet down to 2-1 favoritism facing nine rivals going six furlongs, he broke sharply from his rail post and was never headed as he won by 2.5 lengths in 1:10.60 for the distance. In the barn of Todd Pletcher, he has him taking the next logical step, and does so off of three straight bullet works at the Palm Beach Downs Center. Colt may be a good one.
2nd pick: #4 (Sonneman) (5-2) - This colt by 'Curlin' sold for $375,000 as a yearling in Sept. of 2018 at Keeneland. He raced evenly while wide debuting in a Saratoga sprint July 27, then showed big improvement when finishing 2nd there Aug. 31 going seven furlongs. Promising sort broke his maiden going a mile at Belmont Park Oct. 5 in a strong field in good time (1:36 flat). Unraced since, he's had a half-dozen local published drills since Feb. 24 and is dangerous if ready off a six-month layoff.
3rd pick: #7 (Masterday) (8-1) - Colt drops in class and shortens up in distance after tiring here going 8.5 furlongs in the Fountain of Youth Stakes (G2) Feb. 29. He broke his maiden sprinting in his debut Nov. 16 and should appreciate the cut-back to seven furlongs.
4th pick: #1 (Tomcat Black) (10-1) - Canadian bred son of 'Bernardini' has been inactive since breaking his maiden going two-turns at Tampa Bay Downs Dec. 28. Competitive in all five starts, he has the rail, and may get a share of this at a square price.
